65daysofstatic es un banda de post-rock originaria de Sheffield, Inglaterra. En el 2009 The Cure los eligió para que les abrieran sus conciertos durante la gira mundial que hicieran en ese año. Escape from New York es el resultado de sus apariciones en vivo en dicha ciudad, grabado en el Madison Square Gardens y Radio City Music Hall. Sin más palabras: power rock del bueno.

Es casi increíble pensar que Belle and Sebastian en una primera instancia se conformara por un grupo de universitarios en Glasow sin la intención de formalizar una banda y terminaran siendo una banda de culto. Resulta ser que este conjunto de personas llevan ya 14 años dándole al pop de la actualidad un sorprendente revival de lo que se hacía 40 años atrás. Su sello es elegancia, pop “de cámara”, una mezcla perfecta de instrumentos y vocales, letras inteligentes... dicho en una sola palabra: virtuosismo.

Este año regresan con Write about love después de 4 años de descanso. Junto a su nuevo disco se lanzan de gira.

El padre de Yoav es un arquitecto judío nacido en Rumania el cual huye de la Segunda Guerra Mundial y se instala por un tiempo en Tel Aviv donde nace Yoav. Su madre, una cantante de ópera clásica. La familia después se traslada a Ciudad del Cabo, Sudáfrica, donde Yoav empieza a escuchar pop y rock a escondidas de sus padres en la casa de sus vecinos.

Desde temprana edad Yoav supo que la música era su mundo y el hecho de que sus padres le prohibieran escucharla libremente hizo que las exploraciones de nuevos géneros fuera algo excitante. También desde joven empezó a escribir sus propias canciones. Dejó la universidad para irse a Londres a probar suerte con resultados nulos. Hasta que su primo le telefonea desde Nueva York para informarle que está cenando con un productor el cual está interesado en su demo.

Yoav se instala algún tiempo en NY donde sus influencias crecen y va madurando como músico para después regresar a Londres y firmar con Field Recordings donde edita su primera producción Charmed & Strange en el 2008. Ahora radicado en Montreal Yoav regresa con un segundo álbum que para decirlo en una sola palabra es simplemente adorable. La particular textura de su voz junto a su lírica que deambula entre la realidad y los sueños hacen de A foolproof escape plan un álbum que anuncia la madurez a la cual Yoav ha llegado y nos invita a seguirle la pista.

Nataly Dawn y Jack Conte empezaron a hacer música hace un par de años subiendo videos al youtube de sus canciones y covers a través de un formato conocido como el videosong, lo novedoso de un videosong es que cada que escuchas un sonido ves también en pantalla el origen del mismo; pueden encontrar una amplia variedad de canciones de este par en youtube. Alex Suarez y Ryland Balckinton fueron compañeros en la preparatoria allá en 1997 donde cada uno tocaba la guitarra en diferentes bandas. Después se fueron a trabajar de meseros a Boca Raton Florida hasta que cada uno tomó su camino y se perdieron la pista. En agosto del 2005 se dan cuenta que viven a 10 minutos de distancia en Brooklyn e instantáneamente forman This is Ivy league. The Ivy league hace referencia a una prestigiosa confederación de Universidades de la Costa Este de Estadosunidos famosa por su elitismo así como a un trío de pop de los años sesenta en el Reino Unido.
